Q&A Podcast #43

My husband and I found something our daughter wrote saying she wanted to kill herself. We have her in counseling, on antidepressants, and are actively trying to learn how to navigate this and parenting in general. Some information I find conflicting. "Don't give them to much attention for it." "Make sure you talk about it openly in the home." "Come up with a safety plan." We are trying to make her identity about other things but she almost obsesses over mental health itself. She is so smart, talented, and just an awesome person and our hope for her is that she finds a passion or hobby that she loves and will help her with some self love. How can we do this when she is so unwilling to try? How can you tell if someone is seriously considering suicide or just obsessing over it and would never do it? What can we do? What should be done?
